Sport-Étude - 2011-12 program

During the winter of 2011, we launched a pilot project of running the first cycling sport-étude program outside of the province of Quebec. Here is the information regarding our 2011-12 program (available in French only). See selection criteria and submit your application before August 26th.

MacKinnon on top of the Canadian track scene

Cameron MacKinnon, from Calgary living in Dieppe, NB and training at the Atlantic Cycling Centre, spent two years out of competitive cycling prior to making his comeback in 2010. Now, he’s the Canadian Champion in the omnium, a six-race event that features both endurance and speed events.
MacKinnon profited from an excellent opportunity, especially with the absence of 2010 World Cup Champion Zach Bell of Watson Lake, Yukon, training in North Vancouver, BC. MacKinnon jumped on the opportunity, winning four races to take the coveted Canadian title, his 13th career Canadian title.
“I am really happy, especially coming off a road season and limited time on the track. It’s a little bit disappointing not to have Zach Bell competing here, but I’ll take it, said MacKinnon. “Last year I came to Canadian championships without any road races at all, so this is my first season with road racing since my junior years. It definitely helped with the intensity and the volume of racing with six events.” ...
Meier and Wight to race London's 2012 test event

On Sunday, five Canadian road cyclists will be racing on the 2012 Olympic Games course as the organising committee for the London Olympic Games hosts its test event for road cycling on the London-Surrey course.
With less than one year to go before the start of the Olympic Games, Dominique Rollin (Boucherville, QC/Française-des-Jeux), Christian Meier (Sussex, NB/UnitedHealthcare), 2011 Criterium Canadian Champion David Veilleux (Cap Rouge, QC/Team EuropCar), Stuart Wight (Riverview, NB) and Jamie Riggs (Manotick, ON/Louis Garneau-Club Chaussures-Norton Rose) will be fighting for the top honours and for the gold medal in this UCI 1.2 race. ...

The Subway BMX track is back opened after too many cancelations for rain and will be the site of tonights Mikes Bike Shop Cup stage.
Track Nationals - Atlantic Canada once again well reprsented

Just a quick note to let you all know the Atlantic Cycling Centre selection arrived yesterday in beautiful Bromont (Québec) to attend Track Nationals Championships. The event will be starting tomorrow (Monday, August 8th). Throughout the week, we will do our best to keep everyone posted either on the Centre’s web site (www.AtlanticCyclingCentre.com) or via our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/groups/129305793811807/).
This year’s selection will be composed of the following riders:
Mike's Bike Shop Cup, 2011 Update

Mother nature has not been on our side here folks! As you may have noticed, the last BMX race for the Mike's Bike Shop Cup has been postponed twice due to rain. This is just a reminder that it will be held next Tuesday at 6:30pm (let's hope for no rain!).

Fredericton's Matt Hadley Wins Canada Cup

07.27.11 - CATHERINE VIPOND, MATT HADLEY CROWNED 2011 CANADA CUP CHAMPIONS
The wedded couple of Vipond and Hadley are Canada’s top XC Mountain Bikers of 2011
(Edmonton, AB – July 25, 2011) Catherine Vipond of Oshawa, ON and Matthew Hadley of Mount Hope, NB both won the highest honours of the Canada Cup series as the 2011 season concluded Sunday in Edmonton, Alta, with the presentation of the fourth and last race of the 2011 Canada Cup Mountain Bike Series.

Just a reminder that this past Tuesday's MBSC (BMX) was postponed due to rain and will be held next Tuesday (August 2nd) at 6:30 instead! Mark-Andre Deslauriers is still in the lead and will be sporting the Apogee Leader's Jersey, being chased by Jean-Richard Cormier and Mike LeBlanc. We hope to see more people out for our last BMX event of the Mike's Bike Shop Cup!

BMX Race Series

We will be holding a BMX race series at the Rotary Park BMX track on Sunday mornings at 10:30 starting in September. It's for all ages, and there are a few bikes, helmets, and gloves available for rent (first come first serve). More information to follow!
