NCC-AC launches a fitness training program

Following the demand of many active cyclists, the National Cycling Centre - Atlantic Canada is proud to announce the creation of its Active for life training program!

The program will now be split in two groups: the Weekend Warriors plan and the Cyclo-sportif plan. Both touching the Active for life stage of the LTAD.

The Active for Life stage of LTAD is the final destination of all Canadians. In this stage, athletes and participants enjoy lifelong participation in a variety of competitive and recreational opportunities in sport and physical activity.

“This stage can be entered at any age, beginning with developing physical literacy in infancy, and evolves to being Competitive for Life and/or Fit for Life through all phases of adulthood.” CS4L

Winter Cross Course laid out and awaits you!

All right! If you still had doubts regarding the Wintercross, well, the snow has come, and a course was built in that snow! Like every year, you never know what to expect from the course and the snow conditions, but this ones, I must say looks nice!

So, no more excuses! Snow is great (and especially soft to throw fellow cyclist into it!), weather should be great (sunny and minus 7 on Saturday) and many are planning on being there! Registration (at only 5$, it’s a steal!) will take place at the Centre at 2 PM and the race starts at 3. We should be going for 45 minutes and a lap, but officials will call it according to the weather!

Winter Cross 2012

Looks like it's going to happen once again! Get ready, the 2012 Cyclo-cross Winter Classic will be held one again during Dieppe's Friendship Carnival!

The event will take place on Saturday, February 4th at 3 pm. Registration, for all hoping to get crazy on a bike, opens from 2:00 at the Cycling Centre, Rotary Park, Dieppe, NB.

2012 Elite coaching program

Here are the details regarding the application process for teh 2012 Elite Coaching Program. The program is pretty much the same as usual, we've added an "Active for Life" part to it.

Details to be published very shortly on this new tier, but it will cater to the cyclists enjoying the sport to stay in shape physically. This could also be where master category riders could fit into the program.

As for the details regarding the Peter Wedge RACER program, it will be release in March as usual.

Application deadline for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers is January 20th. If you have any questions, direct them to the Centre's Head Coach at Luc@AtlanticCyclingCentre.com.

Computrainer MultiRider nights are back!

For those cyclists who made a New Year’s resolution to ride a bit more and get rid of the extra luggage, the Centre’s here for you. As of January 16th, the Computrainer MultiRider nights are starting again!

This year, we’re doing it better from what we’ve learned during our first winter. We’ll have three types of rides:

  • Monday evening: women’s night with Krista (6, 7 and 8 pm)
  • Tuesday night race series with Andrew (5:30 and 6:45 pm)
  • Wednesday night training with Philippe (7 and 8 pm) ...

2012 Track Championships to attract Canada's best riders to New Brunswick

(Ottawa, ON – January 9, 2012) The 2012 Canadian Track Cycling Championships will be held from September 12-18 in Dieppe, New Brunswick, at the National Cycling Centre - Atlantic Canada on the newly resurfaced Caisse Populaire de Dieppe/Memramcook Velodrome. This marquee venue will attract the best Canadian riders to the Maritimes for what promises to be a great spectacle of track cycling.

Canada’s top track riders will challenge for the coveted Red and White Jerseys coming off the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in London. Competition at the Canadian Track Cycling Championships is always intense, and every year, this event sees breakthrough performances from young riders all over the country. ...

Velodrome Renovations done!

Well, just a few minutes ago, the last board on the Caisse populaire Velodrome was screwed down! The Sport-etude athletes wanted to push there luck and ride it, but there was actually frost on most part of the track! But no need to say everyone is super excited about the revamping of this very valuable venue!

Special thanks to the City of Dieppe, the Government of NB, and the Caisse populaire for there generous support towards this great project!

Stay tuned, if the weather allows, we'll certainly plan a test ride!

Atlantic Cross Championships results

Here are the results of the 2011 Atlantic Cyclo-cross Championships. The race was shortened due to terrible weather conditions.

In addition to these results, we also add the winners of the Oakley Provincial Challenge:

  • Best provincial team: Nova-Scotia (Andrew L'Espérance, Jamie Lamb, Garrett McLeod)
  • Top women: Krista Koval

First ever cross relay a success

The first ever cyclo-cross relay held during the 10th anniversary weekend at the National Cycling Centre was a great success. 20 teams participated in this very fun event. The teams were split into 3 categories: male, female, mix / family. Here are the results.

The event allowed us to test the course for tomorrow's Atlantic Cross Championships. Everyone really enjoyed the Rotary Park course. A 10th anniversary banquet was then held for celebrate the years of successes at the National Cycling Centre.

Start list for tomorrow's event can be found here and you can still register on the spot. Registration and number pick up will take place at the Centre's office between 9:30 to 10:30.

On-line registration closed for relay, but still opened for Atantics

This is it boys and girls! Today's the day for the first ever Cross Relay race! Just a reminder to everyone this should be a fun event, Halloween costums are even encouraged this evening! The course is pretty much all marked, and will be complete this morning!

For those who pre-registered, thank you very much for using our on-line system. You can still register on site. The number pick up (and late registrations) and confirmation of team mate will be from 4:30 to 5:30 at the National Cycling Centre office. Thanks for cooperating and showing up on time!

Mike's Bike Shop and Arc'Terix to offer more prizes!

As the week progresses and we're getting ready to say go, we are happy to be adding some more details to our prize list. In addition to the Oakley provincial challenge, the prize money, we got word that Mike's Bike Shop is throwing in not one, but two GoPro cameras and full 10th anniversary special edition racing kits! Change at top of MBS Cup

With only one week to go, we now have a new leader in the Mike's Bike Shop Cup; although nothing is over as it is still very close! Jean-Richard Cormier will now be wearing the Apogée leader's jersey with 970 points. Long time leader, Mark-André Deslauriers is still close with 945 points.

Krista Koval took week 17 while Cormier and Don Ricker were second and third respectively.

The last event of the summer will be held on the 25th at 6PM. Be there in great number to celebrate another great season of cycling!
