Bronze medal for Stuart Wight

Riverview's Stuart Wight scored big yesterday by claiming his first national championship medal. He did so by finishing 3rd in the 20 km junior inidividual time trial.

Thanks to Don Ricker, we have a nice video of the Dieppe MTB Race. The race was certainly a very interesting one with Jeff Currie taking to over win in the A group.

Dieppe MTB Race results

The day was a big success and riders really appreciated the MTB time trial + short track combination. It created some good rivaleries and ended up being a very interesting event.

Here are the complete results.

Many thanks to the volunteers, to the City of Dieppe Park staff, Velo NB, and Fit Works for the bar-b-q fundraiser along with the wonderful prizes to the winner. Special thanks also go to Mike's Bike Shop and Giant bicycle for their support towards this event.

Just a quick note to mention that, under Velo NB's new rules for categories, day licence riders will be allow to race with the D category. So same course, same duration. 1 hours + a lap.

Dieppe MTB and Youth Challenge Race - Update

The course is now ready, and most importantly, it looks like the weather will be cooperating! Registration are coming in, but we really want to encourage everyone to sign up in advance to assure a quality delivery of the results.

If you have not done so already, please, do so at on our on-line registratrion system: licenced rider event - Youth challenge

The course will be marked with arrows and opened all day Saturday for training. On Sunday morning, the final touches will be ready for 9 am. Final registration will be accepted at 10:15 am... if you are registered on-line, you may pick up your race plate and confirm your by 10:30. This is a time trial, so we need to be able to prepare the official start list.

Youth Challenge registrations will be accepted until the last minute.

A Bar-B-Q will be served on spot between the events.

Here's the official schedule:
9:00 - Course officially open
10:15 - Registration cut off
11:00 - individual time trial
1:00 - Youth Challenge
2:00 pm - Short Track MTB race (1 hour + a lap)

The Subway BMX track will be opened from 2 to 4 pm (check web site to confirm track condition). The latest rain and bad weather did not allow us to finalize the fixes on the Caisse populaire Dieppe Vélodrome, so that will not be accessible.

Velodrome under renovation

Please take note that the velodrome is currently under renovation. With the weather not cooperating, this is not helping out our task. We will keep you posted onto when we will be doing some work, and of course, volunteers are always wanted to help out.

Dieppe MTB and Youth Challenge Race

As part of the Velo NB Cup, we are proud to invite you to the 2009 Dieppe MTB Race!
 
The race will be in two stage:
11:00 - individual time trial
2:00 pm - Short Track MTB race (1 hour + a lap)
 
A Youth Challenge will take place between the two stages (1:00 pm). We are targetting all Sprockids participants (or similar programs) aged 8 to 12 years of age across the Maritimes. Eveyone will get a prize!
 
Come a try out the St-Anselme Park's new trails! On Saturday, the Caisse populaire Dieppe Velodrome and the Subway BMX track will be open to all participants. Come and take advantage of our facilities and enjoy the athmosphere of the Dieppe cycling community!

MBS Cup resumes tonight with the time trials. Meet at Airport Road and the first rider goes at 6:30 pm.

Excellent Dauphiné Libéré for Meier

Known as the final preparation for the Tour de France for many top guns, Sussex cyclist Christian Meier (Garmin - Slipstream) scored big during the last week at the Dauphiné Libéré. On Saturday, he was in the good break of the day, scoring king of the mountain points on the famous Col du Galibier (12th) and the Col de la Croix de Fer (3rd).

Centre takes two podium spots at Tour de PEI - and 2nd place on team GC

The crowd was the only thing pouring into Historic Downtown Charlottetown as the rain held off, with thousands of spectators cheering on 76 riders in an electrifying criterium that circled a one-kilometre city block fifty times.

Whitten Reclaims Yellow Jersey

Italian Giorgia Bronzini (Specialized-Mazda- Groupe Samson) captured her third stage win today in Georgetown following Stage 4 of the Tour de PEI. In hot pursuit of Bronzini during the final sprint to the line were Australian, Rochelle Gilmore (Lotto-Belisol Ladiesteam) and Dutch rider Martine Bras (Selle Italia-Ghezzi) finishing in second and third place respectively. All three riders completed the race in 3 hours 13 minutes 54 seconds.
