[-]minimize Mike's Bike Shop Cup - Week 4: Girl Power[Thu Jun 10 14:00:45 PDT 2010][-]minimize Week four meant a switch from the muddy trails and knobby tires to the paved roads and aerodynamic equipments. The 17 km course around the Moncton International Airport is again the battle grounds of week 4, 5, and 6 of the Mike’s Bike Shop Cup.
On Tuesday evening, after the handicap factor was put in to include all categories, Michelle Chase scored the fastest time. She was followed by Jean-Jacques Ferguson and Pierre LeBlanc.
On the general classification, young Stéphane Cormier manage to keep the Apogée leader’s jersey for yet another week with now 270 points. Jean-Jacques Ferguson (245) and Krista Koval (230) now complete the top three.
Here are this week’s results as well as the complete general classification after four weeks. ... [-]minimize Mike's Bike Shop Cup switches to Track[Thu Jul 1 6:08:37 PDT 2010][-]minimize Time to start turning left at the 2010 MBS Cup! The series now transfers to the Caisse populaire Dieppe Vélodrome for the next three weeks of action.
The format will be as usual. For those who need advice on riding the event, show up early, and we'll have someone there to help. The events will all be individual ones (starting with the kilo on week 1) and then we will have some fun races to complete the evening.
Official start time is still 6:30 as usual (on Tuesday, July 6th). ... [-]minimize Mike's Bike Shop Cup - Week 1[Wed May 12 6:47:24 PDT 2010][-]minimize Week one of the 2010 Mike’s Bike Shop Cup started off where it left last year. The riders were challenged with many of the new trails that were developed at Dieppe’s St-Anselme Park. The trails were a bit wet and slippery, but we must not forget this it the earliest we ever started this event.
Pascal Sirois took last night’s event. He was followed by Pierre McIntyre and Krista Koval. Sirois will be wearing the Apogée leader’s jersey next Tuesday for stage two of the long 18 week fun battle. His challenge to defend the jersey will now be even greater as his handicap will now be increased.
Last season overall champion, Neil Symington, unfortunately started the season on a sour note, suffering of a punctured tire with a lap to go. In the spirit of this friendly event, he decided to finish the race and collect the last 5 points available. Considering how close the classification was in 2009, those points could be of great value when October rolls around.
Next week’s event (2nd out of 3 cross country events) will again take place in St-Anselme Park at 6:30. On-line registrations are still possible for those hoping to join on this fun, social event. With the special timing system we developed along the years, everyone has a chance to win on any given night!
Photos of last night's event are available here. Thanks to Denis Doucet for those pictures. A facebook page was also created and can be found here.
